9th of August - Waitemata Harbour and Naval Museum

Another awesome day of weather meant a cruise around on a boat and in Rogers's fancy car

(can you tell I love his fancy car?).

We drove down to Devonport to catch a ferry across to Auckland, from there we caught the harbour cruise.

The cruise takes you around Waitemata Harbour, which is the harbour for Auckland City.  We sailed past the container ship docks that turn a ship around in 18 hours.  Past Bean Rock Lighthouse that keeps ships off the reef.

 We stopped at Rangitoto island.

The island and I.

Auckland from Rangitoto

Sailed past the North Shore tunnels and under the Harbour Bridge.

You can bungy jump from the bridge (so not going to happen Roger).

We sailed into the largest marina in New Zealand, past the hotel with a suspended pool and back to the docks.  After lunch in Auckland, we caught the ferry back to Devonport and went to the Torpedo Bay Naval Museum.

I loved it.  The New Zealand Navy isn't very large, but because of their ties with Britain the navy has quite a history and some amazing artifacts.

It was a fantastic day, but sad too because it was not only my last Friday of the trip, but the last day of the adventures of just Mel and Roger. Everyone else was at school.  Granted we've only had four days of those adventures and I love doing things with everyone, but its kind of nice to just hang out with one of your closest friends alone.

Favorite food moment of the day: having after school ice cream with Mackenzie, Keanna, and Roger

My favorite sayings of the day or Roger's least favorite sayings of the day: Are you sure your knee is okay? Or How is your knee?

Glass bead for my charm bracelet earned today: Rangitoto.  I had already purchased it, but I didn't want to leave it here to be earned next time.

So glad I probably don't have to wear it again on my trip: my favorite shirt has become my least favorite shirt on this trip (see pictures above)

Late night bedtime: midnight (earliest of the week - except for the night Roger didn't get home until 9pm - Andrea and I went to bed at 8:30)
