This area has historical significance in New Zealand history, the biggest being the area where the Treaty of Waitangi was presented / signed between the Maoris and the British.
We stayed at a fabulous cottage in Russell and had a relaxing couple of days.
I rode the passenger ferry with lots on water being dropped on me.
We walked round Paihia,
visited more falls, where even more water was dropped on me.
See I'm wet and mad.
Wednesday night we had the best ribs I've ever had. Seriously. I truly mean that. Roger helped me celebrate Pioneer Day by having the restaurant sing happy birthday to Andrea and I again. On our last morning I was locked in the stocks on the beachfront.
On the way home we took a detour to see important sights in Rogers ancestry.
Oh, and some more falls.
Definitely a better trip than siting in an aftershock shaking city.
Trip highlights and lowlights?
