July 16- West Coast

One of the things on my list of must dos on this trip was to see a west coast beach with black sand.  So yesterday we all went out to Muriwai Beach. For those of you that know your New Zealand beaches it is just north of Kare Kare and Piha beaches.  It was a gorgeous day, windy, but not too cold, sunny.  The sand is really soft. I felt like it was almost springy,it cushioned your impact a bit.  It's also really fine.  I'm still finding it in my shoes and toes.  It reminded me of an Oregon Coast beach, but a little more wild.

We are off to Rotorua next, further down the North Island.  I won't have as much Internet access, so be prepared for a lot of posts when I return.

Firsts: seeing the Tasman Sea and knowing that Australia was to the west

Funny moment: Melody making a mess when she eats continued at lunch

Embarrassing moment:  watching my 19 year old self on a video Roger made for his mum when we worked together.  I am glad that the most embarrassing parts never  made it on to the video, but there are lots of embarrassing moments for him!  I also flipped my clean and really long hair a lot, really a lot. In almost every shot I appear.
